The Belmont Soil & Water Conservation District, in cooperation with the Natural
Resources Conservation Service, provides technical assistance to landowners for
planning, design, construction and installation of conservation practices, such
as heavy use pads, access roads, spring develop
ments, water systems, grazing
systems and conservation planning.

Frost proof waterers are utilized to provide water
year round to paddocks in a
rotational grazing system. These tanks are utilized in pressurized water systems
installed through the Natural Resources Conservation Service's Environmental
Quality Incentives Program.

The District's no-till drill (left) is being used to interseed oats into
pasture in August for extending the grazing season. Contact Brian Porterfield at

A Heavy Use Feed Pad is constructed using geotextile fabric and
limestone. Geotextile is available from the District at the low price of $315.00
per roll or $1.10 per linear foot. Rolls measure 12.5 ft wide by 360 feet long.

A Spring Development and Tank can be installed to provide livestock with water.
Belmont SWCD provides technical assistance to the Natural Resources Conservation
Service to install conservation practices on the land through the Environmental
Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). For more information on EQIP contact Jeff

Herbicide can be applied to fence rows to control
multiflora rose. The District can provide landowners with information on brush
control and offers a 25 gallon, ATV mounted, spot sprayer. (ATV not included) Be
